The owners of David’s Jewelry and Coin Exchange, David and Danelle Weaver, have a servants heart for both local and international needs. Recently, their philanthropy has helped build a large building addition at the Ethan Ellsworth Vocational Training Center in Kolir, Uganda. This new building is being used to teach the vocation of tailoring and sewing,  In addition to the building, David and Danelle have donated financial resources to pay for fabric, student tuition fees, student uniforms and student bicycles (to help with long travels from their villages to the school). Their latest endeavor was to double the number of sewing machines that the students had access to train on.

While the Weavers most recent work has been to serve an international need, they desire this scholarship opportunity to award those doing service work in our local community. Therefore, the Diamonds Do Good Scholarship Fund was created in 2022 to award an annual Scholarship to local seniors whose service project meet the requirements below and creates a lasting impact in our local community.

David’s Jewelry and Coin Exchange is offering one scholarship to a local Bryan or College Station High School Senior. One winner will be selected per academic school year and receive a check for $2,000.00 for their college expenses.

The following requirements must be met in order to apply:

  • Students must currently live and attend high school within the Bryan/College Station boundaries. This includes public, private and home school students.
  • Students must currently be a senior in high school, already be accepted, and plan to attend school at either Blinn College or Texas A&M University College Station for the fall semester of the 2023 school year.

Diamonds Do Good service project submission requirements:

  2. Submit a document that discusses the following three key elements of the service project:
    • The community need you decided to serve and why it was important for you to fill this need.

    • Post service project thoughts including; how the project went, what could have done differently, and the lasting impact the project will have.
  3. Submit an approximately 5 minute video created throughout the whole planning and execution process of the service project, via a youtube link, that highlights the following:

    • Lasting impact of the service project.

The project should be 100% your own. This is not you simply volunteering your time to an existing project or effort.

David and Danelle Weaver will choose the winner of the Diamonds Do Good Scholarship Fund and notify the winner, or your school if they host an end of the year scholarship awards ceremony, on or before April 15, 2023.
