Whether you need to identify the type of jewelry and its value, or a written jewelry appraisal for insurance purposes, we have the expertise to get the job done.
Jewelry Identification
Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between inexpensive costume jewelry and jewelry that contains a precious metal, stone, or diamond. The same is true for coins. Often, a coin collection has a lot of sentimental value but little monetary value. Our experienced team can evaluate your jewelry or coins to identify pieces with value and explain their worth.
Appraising Your Jewelry and Coins
After identifying your jewelry or coins to determine what you have, we can then provide an appraisal of their value. We have over 25 years of experience working with collectible coins, jewelry, and precious metals, and can easily evaluate your items and give you an informal appraisal.
Insurance Appraisals
Jewelry
If you need a written appraisal to ensure your jewelry is covered under your homeowners’ insurance, our dedicated staff can work with you to identify and value your items. After completing the evaluation, we will provide you with a written appraisal that you can then present to your insurance company. We can appraise a single item or an entire collection. Our printed appraisals include the following descriptions for each piece of jewelry:
- Type of metal
- Stone information – The 4 C’s: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight
- Side stone information
- Total weight
- Appraisal value
For written jewelry appraisals, we charge $130 for the first item and $85 for each additional item. Some exceptions may apply, and we encourage you to call or visit us in person for more details. For large jewelry collections, we offer a bulk discount depending on the size.

Coins
If you need a written appraisal to ensure your coin collection is covered under your homeowners’ insurance, David’s Jewelry and Coin Exchange is here to assist. We can provide Coin Appraisals for $150 an hour. Some exceptions may apply. No appointment is necessary, so we encourage you to bring your coin collection to us at your convenience. We will review the collection and provide the appraisal within a week or less, depending on its size.
